When the Part Is No Longer Made
A heavy-duty suspension repair can be fully scoped, documented, and ready to go, and still stop at a single line on the parts list. A U-bolt sized for a specific suspension configuration, an older chassis, or a specialty build is not always still in production. When the part is no longer available, it has to be made. That is work our facility does here in Buda, and it is part of why operators across Central Texas bring older units to us.
Aguirrie Paint & Body has handled that situation on site since 1978. Our facility has the on-site capability to fabricate discontinued parts for older equipment and specialized vehicles that are no longer supported by manufacturers. Custom U-bolts are part of that capability, fabricated here as part of the collision repair the unit came in for.
The Vehicles We Fabricate U-Bolts For
Custom U-bolt fabrication is performed for the classes of vehicle our facility is set up to handle, as part of collision repair work. Older commercial units, older motorhomes, and specialty builds are where this comes up most often, because those are the vehicles whose original hardware is least likely to still be sitting on a shelf.
What a U-Bolt Does and Why the Spec Matters
Suspension U-bolts hold the leaf springs to the axles on heavy-duty commercial vehicles, motorhomes, RVs, and specialty units. The measurements have to be right: the length, the diameter, the thread, and the radius at the bend where it seats against the spring pack. So does the material.
Those measurements are not approximate. A U-bolt that is off-spec does not hold the load the way the manufacturer designed the suspension to hold it, and a unit returned to service with an off-spec U-bolt is not a unit at pre-accident condition. That is the whole reason the part gets made to the measurement of the vehicle rather than to a catalog number.
How We Fabricate a Custom U-Bolt
U-bolt fabrication at our facility is performed as part of the suspension portion of a collision repair. The sequence is short. The precision is the point.
This is the workflow that has been running at our facility for decades. The U-bolt is one component inside a larger collision repair, and fabricating it here keeps the part, the suspension work, and the frame correction inside one job.
Custom Fabrication Beyond U-Bolts
U-bolts are the most common component we fabricate during a post-collision suspension repair, and they are not the only one. The same on-site fabrication capability covers other suspension components, structural pieces, and hardware for units whose original parts are no longer produced.
The reasoning holds across all of it. When a unit is in for collision repair and a component it needs is no longer produced, the part gets made here, measured against the vehicle it belongs to, as part of the repair that brings the unit back to pre-accident condition.
The Blue Print Process and Suspension Hardware
A visual estimate is often an incomplete picture of collision damage, and suspension hardware is a common place for that gap to show up. U-bolts, mounts, and related hardware absorb force during an impact, and a U-bolt that absorbed force can look intact while no longer holding the specification the manufacturer designed it to.
We use a blue print process for every collision repair, and the suspension assessment is part of it. Our highly trained technicians identify how the impact transferred through the chassis and the suspension, document what they find, and provide the complete findings to the insurance carrier before the repair begins. When custom U-bolt fabrication is part of what the repair requires, it is documented in that scope from the beginning rather than added later.
Why We Fabricate On Site
Three things follow from doing this work in our own facility:

A Legacy of Safety and Responsibility
Since 1993, Aguirrie Paint & Body has voluntarily participated in the OSHA Consultants program, and we have been awarded the highest rankings for our commitment to safety and health standards every year since. Every hazardous material used in our refinishing process is recycled.
The Equipment and the Technicians
Fabricating a U-bolt to manufacturer specification takes the right measurement, the right material, and a bend made to the radius the suspension was designed around. Our facility has the equipment for that work in-house, alongside the Bee Line brand frame and alignment equipment we use to correct the chassis on the same units.
The technicians doing the fabrication are highly trained, and many members of our staff have over 30 years of individual experience in collision repair. They have measured, fabricated, and installed custom suspension components across four decades of changes in vehicle construction, and they have worked on the older suspension configurations that no longer have factory parts available. They are cherished members of this business, and that experience is what this kind of work takes.

Stop By or Give Us a Call
If you have a commercial vehicle, RV, or specialty unit in for collision repair and the suspension work calls for a U-bolt that is no longer in production, call us or stop by. We will measure the unit, fabricate the part on site, and complete the suspension repair as part of bringing the vehicle back to pre-accident condition. If you want to understand what we found and why the part has to be made rather than ordered, we will walk you through it.
