Built for Fire Apparatus, Ambulances, and School Buses
A fire truck, an ambulance, or a school bus is a chassis, a body, and the equipment mounted to it. A collision can affect all three, and the repair has to account for all three.
Aguirrie Paint & Body has been performing collision repair on specialized vehicles in Buda, TX since 1978. Our facility sits on the I-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio, and it is set up for this class of unit: 28 oversized bays, an 82-foot downdraft bake oven spray booth (one of the largest in Central Texas), and Bee Line brand frame and alignment equipment built for the weight and torque of heavy-duty chassis.
We are also a Spartan Certified Warranty Repair Facility, which matters on fire apparatus in particular. The repair is completed to manufacturer specifications and documented before the unit returns to service.
Specialized Vehicles We Perform Collision Repair On
What Specialty Vehicle Collision Repair Involves
A specialty vehicle is a chassis, a body, and the equipment mounted to it. A collision can affect any one of those three layers, and the repair addresses all three.
The chassis is brought back to manufacturer specifications. Frame correction on a heavy-duty chassis is performed with Bee Line brand equipment sized for the weight and torque of these units.
The body is repaired and section refinished so the structural integrity of the passenger or operator compartment is at pre-accident condition, and so the exterior surfaces carry the lettering, striping, and color the unit is identified by. Refinishing is limited to the areas affected by the collision.
The mounted equipment depends on the chassis underneath it. A pump panel, a ladder rack, a medical bay, or a passenger seating layout sits on geometry that has to be correct, which is why the frame and alignment work comes first.
Spartan Certified Warranty Repair for Specialty Vehicles
Many specialty vehicles, particularly in the fire and emergency response category, are built on Spartan foundations. As a Spartan Certified Warranty Repair Facility, we are authorized to perform chassis and collision warranty work on any vehicle built on a Spartan foundation, including fire apparatus.
The certification covers chassis and collision specifically. We maintain that status through consistent adherence to Spartan’s technical requirements, and we work to keep your Spartan warranty intact while returning the unit to pre-accident condition. This certification means Spartan representatives trust our highly trained technicians to maintain the standards of their brand.
Working With Your Insurance Carrier: The Blue Print Process
A standard visual estimate is often an incomplete picture of collision damage. On a fire truck, an ambulance, or a school bus, the damage that affects safe operation is rarely the damage visible from the outside. Energy from the impact transfers through the chassis, the body mounts, and into the equipment the unit was built to carry.
We utilize a “blue print” process for every collision repair. This is a systematic technical teardown and inspection of the vehicle’s frame and internal components that goes beyond an exterior walkthrough. Our highly trained technicians identify how the impact transferred through the chassis, document every point of damage with photographs, and provide the complete findings to the insurance carrier before the repair begins.
By documenting unseen damage before any work starts, we act as an advocate for our customers. The process provides your carrier with the documentation needed to cover a complete repair to pre-accident condition. For fire departments, EMS operators, school districts, and specialty fleet operators, that means a clearer picture of the scope from day one.
Structural Safety Checks Before Return to Service
After collision repair is complete, we perform a technical inspection of the repaired areas to verify the work meets the vehicle’s original manufacturer specifications. This includes the frame, body, and other structural components affected by the collision. On an ambulance, that includes the patient compartment exterior. On a school bus, it includes the passenger cell. The inspection is documented, and the unit is returned to pre-accident condition before it goes back to the operator.

The Technicians Performing the Work
Collision repair on a fire truck, an ambulance, or a school bus is precision work. The technicians at Aguirrie Paint & Body are highly trained, and many members of our staff have over 30 years of individual experience in collision repair. They have worked on fire apparatus, ambulances, school buses, commercial trucks, and motorhomes through four decades of changes in vehicle construction and materials. They are cherished members of this business, and the depth of their experience is part of what allows us to take on this class of work.
A Legacy of Safety and Responsibility
Since 1993, Aguirrie Paint & Body has voluntarily participated in the OSHA Consultants program. This program brings an OSHA consultant on-site to evaluate workplace and environmental practices throughout our facility, including electrical safety, equipment upkeep, the handling of hazardous materials, and the conditions our technicians work in. A facility that is well-kept and well-equipped is one that produces consistent, high-quality collision repair, and our participation in this program is one of the ways we hold ourselves to that standard. We have been awarded the highest rankings for our commitment to safety and health standards.
Beyond our staff’s safety, we prioritize the environment. Every hazardous material used in our refinishing process is recycled to keep our facility’s impact on the Central Texas environment as small as possible.
